Moola Bi (Trust No One) was released in March 2007, as part of the Smiling Coast Riddim
promotion, on West Coast Radio.
A dozen of Gambia's top artists took the basic rhythm, and transformed it into their own song. Artists included Njie B, Marion, Heartbreaker, Holy Family Band, Aziz, Jah Michael, Hurricane, Pepper House Crew.........
The songs were played on West Coast Radio, and it was left to the public to call the station and vote on air for their favourite.
On Saturday 12 March, Jalex was announced as the winner of the public vote, and at around Midday, was interviewed live on air. Prompted by DJ Boombastic, of West Coast Radio, Jalex performed the entire song without music.
Jalex is often asked in interviews why he chose to write this song about not trusting people, and whether or not it was the result of he himself having trusted someone and been let down.......the answer is NO! He is merely expressing the warning that to trust someone is to leave yourself open to being betrayed!
